Greetings!
Yesterday I just finished putting the final touches on a project that has been a while in the making; an EMG Mk IX inspired horn.
Clarence, as it shall be known, is 23" in diameter, and builds on all the learning from the two horns I made before it. The aim was to build a more polished end product, with a sturdier structure, and I'm rather pleased with the result
I didn't set out to make a 1:1 replica, rather took inspiration from the Mk IX and used the exponential horn formula for my design. You can see the family resemblance for sure! It is made of a composite material, and finished on the inside with textured paper.
Test recordings here:
- H Hall, Teddy Bears' Picnic https://youtu.be/ejCIPRmg8gE
- F Henderson, Stockholm Stomp https://youtu.be/Dnyws69yBN8
- D Fischer-Dieskau, Der Doppleganger https://youtu.be/PFehqullXNQ
For completeness sake, here are the last two horns this one builds on:

Stunning result and very many congratulations on having produced a truly convincing work of art both cosmetically and from an audio point of view. What a satisfying achievement in every way. The huge patience and skill required to "knit" all those tiny computer-generated parts together is also quite amazing. Superb use of the new technology. What next......??

Deep awe and congratulations from me too, echoing everything already said!
Maybe an uber-oversize, eventually?

Many thanks for your kind words all! It's been hugely fulfilling to take it from concept to finished product, and even better that Clarence has already been spoken for and would be going to a good home

Nice work. This is so eye pleasing.
Is there any information on a 3d printed horn done in a large commercial printer?

That's an interesting proposition! I shall investigate and report back on my findings. I have a feeling it wouldn't be economical

Re: An EMG Mk IX inspired hand made horn
I made the identical enquiry some years ago and, whilst possible, it was completely unaffordable---firm in Germany. However, it was for the much larger Oversize horn and things might well have changed by now ? It would certainly be worth enquiring again.
