Ebay theft through Global Shipping Program

Post by chunnybh »

I bought a radio on Ebay UK . I paid for it and international shipping. It never arrived, Ebay said it got lost through their Global Shipping Program. The seller got paid and I got a refund.
4 Months later, the same radio is relisted on Ebay UK by another seller. Same listing and the exact same pics. It's £200 more expensive and again offering International shipping.
I contacted the original seller who is furious that they are using his original listing and pics without his permission. How can they get away with it?.
Reminds me of loosing my luggage filled with 78's on a BA flight. 6 months later they were listen in an auction and I had to bid for them. I got them cheaply and was just glad I got them back.

One of 2 things happened. 1. Some idiot stole the listing and made a fake auction. Happens all the time. 2. Things that are "lost" in the Global Shipping system, it get re-auctioned by Global Shipping. Since they paid off the buyer & seller, they now own it and can re-sell it. Using an exact copy of the original listing does seem odd though. Maybe another party bought it from Global Shipping and are reselling it themselves after finding the original listing on eBay and lacking any knowledge of it themselves, simply copied it verbatim.

Happens all the time in the US too. Here's one example, original listing here https://www.ebay.com/itm/334766262201 and the global shipping reseller's listing here https://www.ebay.com/itm/166043184111. The reseller 8ten1944 currently has over 18,000 items listed.

Radios are very unlikely to be shipped through global shipping because that program identifies all vacuum tubes as prohibited items. I'm not sure on all the rules and prohibited items, but it's a risk using that program.

Good to know. Next time I bid I will ask the seller if GSP is used. Surely it should be mentioned in the listing.

Perhaps the issue with the Global Shipping Program is ebay putting valuables in the hands of employees being paid hunger wages so ebay can make extra profit?

If it happens in this circumstance then little wonder? Maybe call your congressman, ABC news?
