SOLD: 1929 Victrola 8-9 electric $850

Post by marcapra »

I have a 1929 Victrola Orthophonic 8-9 model. This was the model that replaced the Credenza as the Orthophonic machine with the big re-entrant horn. The horn in the 8-9 is a large metal re-entrant horn and gives low bass notes, as well as the high treble notes. It is in fine working condition and has a new old style power cord. I can bring this machine to the APS show in Buena Park on August 19 and 20 for pick up, if that helps you.

Thanks for telling me. The video is set to public, but I noticed I had not set a premiere. So it should work now. the video puts a distortion on the sound that is not there when you listen in person. Marc.

This Victrola 8-9 has sold. I am not able to add SOLD to the title for some reason.

Wow! I'm not sure I've seen an electric 8-9.

Yes, only 500 were made with the induction disc motor.

A collector friend, Ed, said he once had an oddball 8-9. It was a 1930 model with a pickup and electronic amplification!

I would guess it was an after market conversion.
