Five minutes with some GOOP or GoJo and you're good....

It's so bad it's almost good. I mean, if you've got the chops, it would make an amazing restoration project. Meticulously documented, with lots of before and after pics. Are you up to the challenge, Curt? Harry?

Re: Edison Boat Anchor
I could do it, IF it was a valuable or interesting item... If it goes for $100, plus who knows how much time to restore it, you end up with a $200 common machine and the satisfaction of bringing it back to life.
It would be interesting to see someone else do it...

Re: Edison Boat Anchor
Has 15 bids from 7 different bidders. Either they all have boats in need of anchors, or they see nothing but possibilities. In all fairness to the seller, they have made no claims of rarity, and have been very realistic as to its condition.
P.S. Curt, any WD-40 cures for this one?

Jerry,
I already suggested GOOP for cleaning, but you are right, a couple gallons of WD-40 and a sandblaster will get that motor purring in no time...
But, since it's only original once, you need to be careful and not remove too much "patina"...

Re: Edison Boat Anchor
I've seen some rough looking phonographs on eBay before, but this is something else entirely.
