Just came across this on Ebay:

How does giving someone a worthless record in 1977, make it worth $1000 today?
It's beyond me, Bob S.

It’s a metal stamper, not a record. They are not worthless. The surrounding materials are, though!

What would something like this be worth?

Worth what you are willing to pay. I bought one off of an eBay seller last year for $275 including shipping. I bought one of the stampers this one was a late electric DD) for $300 off of Charley Hummel shortly before he died. Another framed one changed hands last year for $350. This one is "worth" a little more to the right person because it was presented to Edison's grandson, but IMHO not worth the $700 opening bid.
