FOR SALE: Reproducers/ Soundboxes

Post by gramophone-georg »

I'm offering the following gramophone soundboxes/ reproducers, as follows, clockwise from top left (click on photos first to properly orient):

HMV No. 16. Small split on bottom nickel covering around the edge stabilized long ago with Super Glue. No other damage. No rubber isolator. Will accept either a Victor HMV no. 4 isolator or a No. 5/ Orthophonic. Set screw for the isolator is present. Sounds great- I was using it until just recently on my HMV No. 32. Use it on an Orthophonic/ Re-Entrant horn machine or upgrade your taper arm Victor or Victrola (or HMV equivalent) to enter the modern age of electrical recording! $125.00

Gold late "RCA Victor" Orthophonic. From a portable, of course, but fits any Orthophonic machine. This one was caressed by Wyatt Markus and sounds as good as you'd expect. Front cover got a little gold lacquer touch up spray but it blends well. This one has a permanent cast silicone Orthophonic isolator. $195.00 SOLD!

Brilliant "Exposicion"... Swiss made. Obviously this one needs a little help and some parts like a tension spring and screw, a needle screw, rear isolator. Aside from this and the fact someone spray painted it gold, it's not bad. Needs new gaskets, naturally. $20 or offer

"Xylophon". I thought this was likely a Starkton product for quite a long time, but then I stumbled across this:

Seems this was actually made by what I'd call a "boutique" gramophone parts maker, the Wurzener Metal Goods Factory, likely sometime pre World War 1. It's VERY well made. I replaced the gaskets and "tuned" it and it sounds wonderful. Finish is actually gold/ gilt. Be aware that this has a Continental mount- the mount throat is the same size as a pre Othophonic tonearm but it could be attached with a short hose... or maybe you have a Euro machine. I'm asking $150 on this one. You won't be disappointed. Plus, you'll be the only kid on the block with one! SOLD!

Hi, I'm interested in the last two if they are still available. Can you PM me to discuss? I'm having trouble finding the message link.

Thanks,

Terry
