im trying to make a wikipedia article on gold molded cylinders, does anybody know the first one and its catalog number? thanks

All due respect, but this isn't how Wikipedia stays a halfway decent source of information.

Firstly, there is already a page on the site for this sort of thing. It's the article titled "Phonograph cylinder."

Secondly, what you are describing sounds more like a discography, not an encyclopedia. Encyclopedias exist to get you ready to do deeper searches. They are secondary, not a be-all and end-all primary source, hence the numerous footnotes and links to primary sources.

Thirdly, Wikipedia articles usually have proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Are you quite sure you can handle this?


What you're talking about making is more like a fan wiki, which focuses on some topic in varying detail. I don't like new media much but if I want to learn about it I would go to one of those and get an exhaustive analysis I'd be disappointed in Wikipedia for allowing on their site.
