Not being signed in though signed in

Post by pallophotophone »

Hello and Merry Christmas !

Here's my situation. I will sign in using the correct method and start composing a reply to a private message. Unfortunately there are times when I have to minimise the TMF website to retrieve a name or subject from the internet. But when I return to the TMF website to finish my message and send it, it seems to go int a black hole never the outbox. My screen name is still visible in the upper left corner of the screen , but the message just disappears. And when I look at the sign in page, it asks me to sign in . Even though I realise that i'm already signed in. Why does minimising seem to sign me out while the TMF website says I'm still signed in? And all of my typing go to waste?

Many Thanks !!

I've noticed there's a box that says "remember me" or something like that under where you sign in. If I forget to check that on signing in, I suddenly am not signed in anymore if I wander off somewhere else and then come back.

If you go back and forth in your browser... Don't you recover the screen where you were writing? If yes, just select and copy the text into Notepad or something apart, then you can sign in again on tmf, prepare the message and paste your recovered text...

Hi Bob,
Just curious if you are using a Windows laptop when this happens or are you using a cell phone. When I use my laptop I have it set to open a new window whenever I visit a website. So, as long as I have that particular window open and the website for that window doesn't time me out it remains open so that anything that I've done remains intact. I'm fairly certain that you realize the "Outbox" here on the Forum contains messages that have been sent but have not yet been opened and read by the recipient. As far as I know there is no "Drafts" folder to hold unfinished messages as Yahoo and other email apps have. All of this said, I've also had messages (some of them fairly lengthy too) that I've been composing that were lost here on the Forum in the past under various scenarios and a lesson that I've learned is to compose messages (especially longer ones) using Notepad or Word and when I'm all set with it I will copy the message in its entirety and paste into a TMF message and send it.

All the best,
Doug
