Also fashionably late, But I used to heat up small U shaped bridges and drop them points first into the wax. Experimented on mouldy unplayable records to determine how long to heat them so they would not come through the playing area. But do not try this with late amberol wax type records as they will fall apart in your hands due to their brittleness if I recall correctly.

The brittleness of wax Amberol records can never be overstated. I once made the mistake of gently holding a cold cylinder from the inside with my index and middle finger (as you're supposed to), and the heat from my hands actually had enough power to cause thermal expansion. Next thing I know, the whole cylinder is making tiny little "clicking" noises, and the number of hairline fractures just about doubled.

i used weldbond glue on a edison gold molded cylinder, works pretty darn well.
