I ended up getting three that I’d really wanted: two late-20s Ellingtons (“Birmingham Breakdown”/“East St Louis Toodle-Oo” on Brunswick and “The Mooche” on Okeh) and Glen Gray’s 1937 version of “Smoke Rings” on Decca. Also won some Dorsey Brothers, Ethel Waters, and Fletcher Henderson records.
Lost on The Knickerbockers “Hong Kong Dream Girl,” which I’m guessing went for a fair amount.
I looked over the unsold lots file and saw that the recording of Marcus Garvey didn’t sell during the auction but the 1903 recording of Pope Leo XIII did!
