Berliner Song Identification

Post by paradroid1793 »

Seeing Dennis's post made me think of this Berliner that I have;

It's a 3 song medley, recorded either in 1897 or 1898 (discogs cites both), by W. Paris Chambers. It says 'Cornet Solo' but you can hear piano accompanying.

I've identified the first and third songs being;

1. When Johnny Comes Marching Home
2. Song 2 (trying to ID, starts around 0:25 on the video)
3. Dixie's Land

If anyone has any ideas, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks.

Be sure to look up Samuel Murchison Seka on the interwebs for some music and phonograph reading material.

I believe it's "The Girl I left Behind Me".

A modern cornet version... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zu4VutyZju8

I believe Frank Crumit made a version with the same tune in 1930.
