Junior Monarch - Model 4 (HMV Gramophone) : hot mess frankenphone

Post by Sidewinder »

Here an interesting construct trying to fake it as a style 3 sold by Carl Below.

The motor is from a model 4
- brake though is modified
. horn from cylinder phono
- reproducer  edison c or h??
- other bits on the newer side

Carl Below was the founder of Mammut & did sell a style 3 for a short while with an Ivorine plaque that looked slightly like this. The Carl Below style 3 is undoubtedly the basis for this thing! I have one in mint condition & regret posting a pic a few years ago, if a copy / fakery like this is the consequence!

:D the adapted Edison reproducer is extraordinary. Are we supposed to think that the cardboard plaque is original? With its clumsy writing in ball point pen and ‘Karl’ misspelt.

What? That's the one part which looks totally authentic to me!
