Another vote for a Sonora.

I actually gave up noting "phonographs in movies" many years ago as I now have a collection of well over 2000 Bluray films, mostly world cinema, vintage black and white and "arthouse" stuff, and to be honest so many of them do have an early machine in them, it's uncanny but I lost count. And no, I did not purposefully choose the film for the appearance of the machines either. It is just a happy coincidence, honestly! :D

Bohemian Rhapsody, the Freddy Mercury biopic, has a scene clearly showing a Sterling cylinder record box next to a cylinder phonograph. Rami Malek (Mercury) is talking to a DJ and the phonograph is seen partially obscured around 48:00. Looks like an Edison.

Well, forget the movies, think Red Dead Redemption 2 ... (Well, you can't keep playing GTA V or looking at ebay all of the time for-ever).

This was in the antique shop of one of the 'fences' .......... is it a real phonograph ? If so which one ?

Presumably different to the one in the camp ?

Enquiring minds need to know ...............

It looks like it’s based on a Columbia Graphophone.

I don’t know what ‘the camp’ is so cannot comment on that.

Looking like a Columbia Graphophone type AZ?

Also all the phonographs in RDR2 are the visibly the same, including the one in the boat, the one in camp which belongs to Dutch, abandoned parlor, the one in the Chinatown gambling house, at Beecher's Hope (epilogue), and in the St. Denis fence. The only minor differences are that Dutch's is the only one that plays, and he will play 'Amazing Grace', 'Battle of the Hymn Republic', or 'Dixie'.

You can inspect the boat phonograph as Arthur or John, and they will make a new journal page to sketch it. Arthur's drawing is much more detailed than John's.

There is also a cigarette card you can find in the Valentines saloon (larger one) from the 'Amazing Inventions' series, with a 'Cylinder Phonograph' (1877 Edison Prototype.)
