Obviously this last one is really a $15 record, but he's giving a 5.5% discount for the missing part.

Obviously the seller knows his customers. He was able to sell a Muppet Show fanclub 7" for $200 and a Beatles: Sgt. Pepper's in vg+ for $900. My hat's off to this guy :x

There's a sucker born every minute, as they say.

Here's the perfect album to go with that broken 78, you'll notice this seller thinks it's "the only one on eBay"

I think that eBay seller also listed this under the Links section in this forum http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... f=8&t=6902. Obviously not that unique over here in the US, but maybe in Portugal?

Ah, yes, so it is. I hate to say this, but I throw out Victor albums in that condition!

I agree, even though my heart bleeds every time I have to throw away something that old, but if it's that damaged it doesn't make sense to bother.

I know what you mean, but I can't keep everything. I used to save them and give them to others who may be able to put them to some use, but some are just so far gone, it isn't worth it. If they're basically intact, even if the covers or binding are slightly loose, I'll pass them along to someone who may be able to use them. A large collection of records I picked up last summer came stored completely in nice albums, lots of really good solid Victor albums in really great clean shape and many others, something like 700 storage albums altogether. As I've been emptying them out and cleaning / re-sleeving the 78s, I'm organizing them my types and colors etc. I've been putting some sets together for a few board members to complete machines. Once I'm all finished getting them emptied and organized (likely not until next year), I was thinking about offering these to board members. I've already completed all my Victor machines' missing albums and I know many of us like to have the right ones for our machines.

I've got hundreds of cylinder boxes in such poor condition they are good for absolutely nothing but if there's a remnant of a label, patent dates, it's difficult for me to throw away...

Well, if anyone wants to drive to the Goodwill in Albany, NY, I just dumped 3 boxes of acoustics in really nice shape behind the store at their donation center on my lunch hour...let's see 300+/- 78s at $2000 (just being conservative on value ;) ) a piece that's $600,000 I just gave to Goodwill! :P

Sean!! Oh my, you should have emailed, I would have loved to have taken those!! :)

Gary,

I still have to get those albums you asked me for in the Spring...I'm a little behind schedule, can you tell?

I actually should start having more free time once construction around here is done in a few weeks, and I'd like to get those albums to you soon!
