I usually buy them from Nauck's, but there are two big disadvantages. First: I live in the Netherlands and the shipping costs are killing me. Second: At least 10% of the sleeves I buy from Nauck's are sloppily folded, or have spilled glue on them.
So now I'm looking for another source, preferably a little closer to home. But so far all I could find on line were paper sleeves (either white or brown), but I'm looking for sturdy cardboard sleeves (I prefer them in brown).
Any suggestions?

Re: Source for sturdy 78 rpm record sleeves
I found these on Ebay :
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290470669787? ... _999wt_932
£25 per hundred - which isn't cheap but they're very efficient. Make sure you buy the CARD rather than PAPER
Sadly no - one seems to make the brown versions any more which were much better and less likely to show "Handling"
I also make my own Albums now as the old, originals are falling apart
My recent alternative has been to buy large quantities of records at the Roger Thorne Sale and Keeping the Mint condition brown sleeves and throwing the records away - not the good ones - just the Boring Jazz ones with obscure labels such as "Paramount" or "Gennett" thus i now have thousands of brown sleeves.

Re: Source for sturdy 78 rpm record sleeves
Hi
I had the same problem, so I have been making my own for a few years now, they take quite a bit of time and effort to make. I had a special knife made and cut them out with my clicking press and glue them together with contact adhesive.

I'd like to understand how that works. I see what looks like a template in your pictures, but the rest is a mystery. I have made a few sleeves from a 24" roll of craft paper, but it is time-consuming. I plan to make a template that I lay atop the paper, then trace around with an Exacto knife. After folding, I use a glue stick. I haven't figured out the best way to cut neat circles yet.saxymojo wrote:...I had a special knife made and cut them out with my clicking press...
I wish someone made sleeves for all the oddball metric sizes of Pathé records. Until then, I'll have to make them myself.

Re: Source for sturdy 78 rpm record sleeves
As part of one lot of Sleeves i bought at the Roger Thorne Sale (including his archive of company and shop sleeves from 1901 - 1930 - a Gold mine of history) i came across a box of "New" sleeves - i put them aside and only yesterday whilst tidying i realised that they were made for the unusual sizes - all the Pathé sizes are amongst them
So SOMEONE made them at some time and may still do so
Here's a photo of one type - there are also a lot of Diamond disc ones - but they are self - assembly !

Very stange as I never! ever! ever! had a problem with Nauck's sleeves. I buy alot for my Edison Diamond Disc records and I highly recommend him.

"Bags Unlimited" offer several options. I've bought several of the green paper ones and am happy with them.

I buy all of my 10" sleeves from them, and they are great. The antique green are my favorite. The 12" sleeves, however, do not fit over early Columbias or Victors, as they are considerably thicker.Valecnik wrote:"Bags Unlimited" offer several options.
