help to replace a chipped cylinder

Post by kirtley2012 »

a while ago i bought a small lot of 2 minute cylinders, there was one with a huge crack that could not be played and this one which had a large crack, those were the only majorly damaged ones, i tried to fill it just to see if i could re-create the grooves but i couldnt which was unfortunate because apart frpn the huge chip it was in perfect condition
the song is "common sense" by bob roberts on edison 9886
do you have one to replace it?
thanks
Alex

The record doctor Michael K is the only one who is really good at repairing cylinders.. It is a special dental wax that is used to fill in the chip, and clean hands, and a dental tool. If you use phono wax, the wax shrinks and falls out of the patch, or melts the chip..

this was the last email address that i had for him. Most people just bring their cylinders to the Union show and he fixes them while they wait. I am not sure if he quotes prices by email.

if you had the chip he could have put it back in for you....without it you might as well just look for a new copy

He does somehow re-groove the missing ones. He is just the best. I can only make cylinder records and blanks, not repair them.
