A Surprise in Every Box?

Post by Lucius1958 »

So: I opened up the P-1 to check the motor, and to replace the petrified rubber washers, and what do I find?

Not just a Heineman motor - but a single-spring motor!

Rather odd; since Edison was advertising this model as double-spring...

There's no indication at all that the motor had been swapped out, either... perhaps a mistake at the factory?

How does this compare with other P-1s? Inquiring minds want to know...

AFAIK, all P-1's have a single spring motor, despite the advertising claim. Here's a good page discussing them:

Interesting.... so, "Truth in Advertising" wasn't exactly Edison's specialty..... :|

I'll still see what I can do to tweak its performance, though...
