Hello,
Can anyone tell me if this is a phonograph key. It is 2.75 inches long, brass and perhaps gold plated. Sorry the scan isn't real clear but hopefully someone out there may be able to help me out here. Thanks much.

That key could open some furniture's drawer.
I remember very similar keys in my grandmother's house. Those keys were used in drawers.

Thanks for the link. I knew it wasn't Victor or Brunswick as I have those, but wasn't sure about another. It's a pretty key, too bad I don't know what it's for!!

The fact that he calls it a phono key is virtually meaningless. Where did the seller get his info from? A lot of ebay descriptions are more the result of wishful thinking that actual knowledge.bobbye49 wrote:Well I have searched through hundreds of eBay listings and low and behold I found this!! Re: Phonograph Key??
bbphonoguy is right, people can call things whatever they want to and often do just to drum up potential buyers, which is fine, but that's really just a generic barrel key. The cut of that key is the same cut Columbia used on most, if not all, Grafonolas and the same one used on many Edison DD machines and I'm sure many others as well. So, bottom line, it may work in many machine cabinet locks, but it may not have been supplied with any.

I actually sent a message to the seller on ebay asking him that very question, but haven't heard. Maybe I'll try one more time asking him to contact the buyer for me...We'll see, but thanks for the input.
