While selling some things for a local collector to help him downsize, I was given this brown wax cylinder. It's about ¼" taller than the Edison cylinder sitting next to it.
Of course we all come across H&S products/accessories fairly often in the hobby whether it's a horn, crane, cylinder cabinet, etc. But I don't recall seeing a H&S cylinder before this one and didn't even know they produced cylinders. Are these that uncommon or have I just overlooked them?
I can't find very much regarding details of their production, a list of titles or artists who recorded for the company. Can anyone help shine light on how long H&S made cylinders or how well they sold compared to Edison and Columbia cylinders during that time? I read that they may have began producing cylinders around 1898 and also that they began the production of flat records sometime around 1904. Does anyone know more about the company's cylinder production details?

Not certain I can provide answers to many of your questions but here is an example of the H&S cylinder box. Label only on the lid. I believe these are very rare items.
Have you sold all these items already? If not can you post info on this site or provide eBay links?
Thanks,
Scott

Thanks for the picture of the H&S box. That's the first I have seen and it's nice that you have the lid with it.MTPhono wrote:Not certain I can provide answers to many of your questions but here is an example of the H&S cylinder box. Label only on the lid. I believe these are very rare items.

These cylinders will be listed by Sunday evening along with a very clean Edison Model L reproducer and a few other odds and ends. I will post a link to the auctions in the trader section here for anyone interested.
Thanks again for sharing the picture.
