Cheney Style One Sheraton

Post by Groundhog74 »

Just a few pics of my Cheney for anyone that's interested. The three paper envelopes to the left are original needle envelopes. The one to the right contained the original key. I did not get the original key with the player, but found one later in a pile of keys at an antique shop.

This is a photo of the label inside the lid. Berkey & Gay Furniture. Cheney's were made in Grand Rapids Michigan. Berkey & Gay was a well known furniture maker in the area that made cabinets for the Cheney's. I found a copy of ont of their furniture catalogs online anf the advertisement came from that.

Groundhog74,

Nice clean contemporary looking machine! Why did all the literature say Chicago? Was there HQ there?

Gotta love the unique tone arm of the Cheney!

Thanks for posting!

That is very nice! I have one (a huge console) and with the vertical reproducer in place - and with the jeweled styluses- it plays Pathé discs beautifully and Edison discs acceptably. They were definitely one of the higher quality secondary makes.
