C-250 that I will eventually get around to working on.

Post by Muad'dib »

I got this Edison C-250 for my birthday from my lady. She spent $25.00 on this at an auction we were at when I was pulling the car around to pick up the other purchases of the day:

Based on the pictures, I think she got a great deal on that machine.

That's a bargain and a great score. She's some lady. :D
Glad to see another enthusiast in Minnesota.

Guys, I hope you will allow me to claim at least partial Minnesota citizenship since I grew up there and lived there till 1997, and... most importantly still retain a large portion of my phono collection there :?

Bruce,

Home is where the phonographs are, isn’t it? :D

Yeah, thanks alot guys. As I may have posted elsewhere I'm quite the novice as far as Vintage Phonographs go. I have always been a collector nerd and have always been into collecting vinyl records. Within the last few years my passing interest in Antiques (especially books, paper, and ephemera) has grown and the record players had a very obvious appeal to me. I hope to get the c-250 operational again even though I am not the most technical guy.

You have a good lady there and at $25.00 you can't go wrong. It look's like you got a very nice machine there.

It should not be a big deal or be very expensive to get it operational again. You should have sombody rebuilt the reproducer. If it needs a new stylus (it probably will) that will set you back but the C250 is one of the most durable machines around and easy to get parts for. There are alot of people on this forum who can help/advise you on how to restore it to it's optimal audio capabilities, mechanical and cosmetic condition. Just ask.

Cheers, Valecnik

Yes, Bruce is right. These machines are great and built like tanks. I brought back a C-19 from the dead a couple of years ago with little trouble. It had some issues, as it had fallen forward at some point before I got it and some stuff was really out of whack, but I was able to get everything repaired, tuned up and running in short order. They sound fantastic with a rebuilt reproducer, too!

Once you get around to working on it, start asking questions, we're happy to help!

Wow, nice machines sure are inexpensive in the US. Wish it was like that over here in the UK! Nice machine there Ryan and I hope you get it fully restored. There are some great guys here who will be able to help you with any questions.
