What the devil is this? Was grandpa a liar or the seller?

Here's the seller's text: "Up for sale is a Vintage Antique WORKING Victor Victrola Phonograph. This has been passed down through the family for many generations and is now ready for a new home. This is in great working condition (see photos) it sounds pretty good for being over a century old. Grandpa said it is a 1901 model. I do not see any markings on this Victrola other then the front badge. There is no damage to the wood cabinet, it looks great and measures 13 5/16" x 13 5/16" x 7" tall. The horn is in good physical condition but shows some wear (see photos', dings etc) Also it looks like the rear arm may have been replaced a long time ago because there's a wear shadow and a hole for a 3rd screw, see bracket, you do not notice it unless you go looking for it. The horn moves around freely. The turn table works perfectly, wind it up and let it go, very smooth and quiet. "

This must be a Victor Scroll-ola. The back mount and horn (repainted) are Columbia manufactured used on Standard Model A Talking Machines, etc. And the cabinet is a definite rework. I like that Victor Scroll half-label ID plate. Oh boy.

dont hold me to this, but i think the case is from a no-name open horn machine, the motorboard is probably just a bit of wood someone cut out and bolted the motor, speed control (which looks to be a speaker knob or something) and a make shift brake to it

Edit: looking at it again, it looks like someone got a off brand case, turned it upside down and bolted the motor etc onto the base of the old cabinet...
