Electric Columbias on Flag label

Post by edisonplayer »

Has anyone seen an electric Columbia on the Flag label?I have one by Van and Schenk,"Everything Is Hotsy Totsy Now"/"What Do We Get From Boston?"My friend Arthur Par'e had 50013-D on the Flag label;"Adeste Fideles"?"John Peel".He also had Vaughn DeLeath singing"Banana Oil"/"Ukelele Lady on Flag. Both electric,of course. The electric Flag Columbias are rarer than the Victor wing VE's.edisonplayer

The Flag label was still is use when Columbia started electric recordings early in 1925. They're definitely around, though not something you tend to see every day.

Question : Is there any indication on the label or disc that it is an electric recording ?

There would be a "W" in a circle by the matrix number indicating a Western Electric recording. These flag label electrics do turn up from time to time, I have some, maybe a dozen, including an earlier Bessie Smith electric.

I've got the John Peel and 367-D Honey, I'm In Love With You ( from Mercenary Mary) and Aloma
Both by The Columbians ( Selvin??)
"Honey" is a particularly forward and vibrant early electrical.
