Wow James,
Great find!
I posted the XVIII in Maine the other day for $2000.
You never know what's gonna turn up on Craigslist.

The seller has already had several people who are interested. I can't believe anyone would pass on this at this price, so I guess I won't be getting it.

I called the seller this morning. She said she had agreed to sell it to a buyer for her asking price of $300 and they would be picking it up Monday. She offered to "unsell" it if I was willing to offer more then her asking price. Having had deals been broken before and items sold out from under me I said no thank you. Not a cool way to do business.

Thank You for being ethical, even if you lost a chance...but I suspect she'd have jumped over you if there was a still higher offer.

I bought my Credenza from a seller who told me that she'd had higher offers from out of state, but she's rather it was just picked up than dealing with someone who'd need to ship it.

I actually lost a Credenza that way about a year ago. The seller told me to come get it, then called me an hour later to tell me not to bother because someone else had shown up with cash, a truck, and $25 more than the seller had originally asked. I was pretty ticked but there was nothing I could do about it.

JLH,
I just wanted to second what estott wrote.
Thank you for being ethical and fair to the person that made the deal to buy the machine.
I truly believe that you will be rewarded down the road for doing the right thing.

Several years ago I found a "Special Finish" early XVI on Craigslist not too far from me. I emailed the seller letting him know I would take the machine for his asking price. I got a reply the next morning and the deal was made. Before I could get a lunch made for the 2.5 hour trip, he called to tell me that another person from far away in Iowa was offering alot more than his asking price but wanted to have him hold it for a week to arrange shipping. I told him that it was up to him to do the right thing and honor our deal. He asked if I was really heading his way to pick it up and I said I would be there today and he said to come get it because he was moving and needed it gone ASAP. I ended up with it but I was not comfortable until it was in my truck on the way home with me. It just goes to show that some people are only out for themselves and to heck with the other guy. I agree thanks for doing the right thing!
