I was reading a back issue of the Dec 2011 APS Journal. There was an excellent article about the early front mount Zonophones. I noticed a picture of a Model C which looks like my Model Home. What are the differences between the two? Is the Home simply a later version of the Model C? My Home has the same type of case with a Concert V reproducer, a Home decal in front and the Universal decal in back. On the bottom of the machine is a label with a 1903 date on it. If possible, I'd like to see a side by side picture to compare the two.

Re: Zonophone Model C VS Model Home
Harvey,
I'm glad you liked the article! Thanks for your kind words.
When the Universal Talking Machine Manufacturing Company revamped its line in late 1901/early 1902, the letter designations were dropped. The old Zonophone Type C became the Zonophone "Home." At first there were no differences other than the UTMMCo decal, but the V Concert sound box quickly became standard equipment. By 1905 the Zonophone "Home" had a new motor and was in a cabinet that looked very much like a Victor Z.

Re: Zonophone Model C VS Model Home
Guys, I recently purchased a Zonophone Home circa 1903. I would love to read that article. How might I get a back copy? Both of you got asked questions about my machine, and I really appreciate the help you both gave me.
Thanks again!
Matt

The article in question covers only the National Gramophone Corporation years (1899-1901). These are the first years of the Zonophone.
