New Capehart Orchestrope 28G Demo on Youtube

Post by barnettrp21122 »

Hello everyone!
Four years from purchase to final restoration, here's a demo of my latest project-a 1930 Capehart Orchestrope, Model 28G.
Yeah, it's a jukebox, but I hope you enjoy it!
Cheers!

That's spectacular, Bob! :D

The Orchestrope looks wonderful, and its operation is fascinating.

In addition, your video (like the last one) is really outstanding. Educational and delightful. :)

Thanks very much for making the video and for posting it.

And congratulations on the successful restoration of a fabulous machine!

What an amazing and beautiful machine! Congrats on a fine job on both the restoration and the video.

Am I correct in assuming that the customer had no choice over what to hear, that is, the machine simply played whatever was next on the stack? How odd...

Thanks, guys! I enjoy these projects.

Yes, you're right, the Orchestrope is non-selective-you get whatever tune's up next.
Several of the early jukeboxes were like this, until technology caught up with the customer's desire to pick his own songs!

Bob, thanks for sharing another beautifully done video and wonderful restoration!

I assume inserting a nickel in the coin slide will start the unit or keep it running, but how does the remote wall box function? Would it be wired to the main unit?

Fantastic Bob!

I've examined a couple of these up close over the years. Yours is certainly a really nice example. Thannks for sharing!

Thanks coyote and Sean!

Yes, the wallbox is wired to the unit. Any number could be wired in series, and each nickel inserted would add one play to the counter, just as with the player's coin slide.

A great machine and a first class video presentation.

What an impressive machine ! I am curious as to its history, and how much of it was still functional when you acquired it ?

I would expect that the electronics in the playback division probably needed some attention, but the mechanicals look like they would move a battleship... forever !
