I purchased a silvertone at a farm sale here years ago and I was very impressed by the sound quality and the construction quality. Victors may have been a popular brand but nearly everyone I have owned had a noisy motor and the silvertone ran flawlessly and had a fine clear tone. My trouble with table tops is where to put them. The poor thing sat on the floor most of the time as I just didn't have a good spot to put it on something in the house..

Thats the way I see it...it isnt so much about what brand it is, it matters that I can save it. Im looking at a pretty dumpy table top grafonola right now....someone has PAINTED it, but I love what I do.

Word of caution from an addict----- I have 57 machines at the moment all because I have a weak spot for abandoned, neglected machines. I love working on cabinets and motors to the extent possible, then one morning I looked around and HEY! how did I get all these machines..

I have a feeling im going to be the same way! I just gotta be careful. Heck, I just got this Silvertone, but I was just offered a Grafonola in rough shape! Its going to take all I have to restrain myself!
