What a piece of art! I saw one with the same configuration but it was a gothic at Union last year. I think Bill Endlein had it.

Thanks - the purchase of this machine has an interesting story behind it to boot.

I wish the American branch of Pathé had offered more cabinets of this quality.

A very nice machine, indeed. I wonder if Pathé had a catalog or period or art cased models.

I searched the Pathé sites quite a bit and never came up with any information on this particular model. I sure would like to find something on it but probably not.

Ok,the story of my Actuelle purchase. I saw an ad for a Victor upright in a local paper which was located about 60 miles away. I(we) decided to go take a look, gathered up the wife and her friend, a pette US Airways flight attendent.
After finding the gentlemans house out in the boonies we went inside to check out the upright. It was a disaster. While I was checking the upright I could see this lovely cabinet in another room and then I noticed it had a crank!! I asked what is that, to which he said a record player (heartbeat increases). After inspecting the Atuelle I asked if it was for sale---nope, thats my wifes pride and joy. I offered him $300 anyway and wrote my address on a scrap of paper.
We chatted a bit, I declined the Victor upright and he, out of the blue, said "ok, I'll take the $300 but you have to get it out of here immediately as my wife will be coming home. He had a physical problem having limited movement in one of his arms, so how am I going to get this heavy, large machine, that has no marks or dings, into the back of my little Nissan pickup truck with two women not designed to be lifting heavy objects. Besides, his wife was due to return momentarily.
The last thing I wanted was to have this in the back of my truck and you know who return!
The gentleman said back your truck over the front lawn to the front door. The three of us managed to get this machine to the front door, out the door, down about 4 steps to the back of the truck, and after numerous tries lifted it into the truck (it barely barely fit). By this time the owner was getting really nervous.
So, we hit the road. two women in the back of the truck holding the Actuelle upright to prevent it from falling over.
No sooner had we left the driveway we were passed by a small car with I assume, you know who behind the wheel - in my rear view mirror I saw the car turn into the driveway we just left.
I can only imagine us backing out of the driveway with her pride and joy in the back of my truck and hearing those dreaded words HEY!

Disclaimer - I do not condone selling your significant others treasures.

I'm extremely uneducated in this field of collecting, but I would have NO problem spending at least $300 for that! If nothing else, it's a beautiful cabinet. Being a working machine is a true bonus...

Oh do I pity that poor guy! Bet he wished he hadn't sold it when his wife got home.
