I have done this twice now. Once, just putting the machine in the freezer for about 3 hours caused the pot metal bushing and the rod to shrink at slightly different rates, and I was able to pull the mandrel out. The second time was harder. Penetrating oil sprayed in the oil hole over the bushing and a LIGHT tap with a rubber hammer (to the end of the mandrel) once or twice a day for about 3 days, and it finally came loose. Maybe one of these will work for you!

I'm confused. The OP asked for
"the best way to get the swollen bearing out without damaging anything else." From that, it sounded like he/she was ready to remove the bearing, as nothing was mentioned about removing the mandrel & mainshaft. If the mandrel & mainshaft are not yet removed, I should delete my previous post - it wouldn't be time for a hacksaw!
We seem to have a failure to communicate.

George, I get entirely too much of my exercise jumping to conclusions. We need the OP to tell us exactly where he's at with this machine.

Since George P. is using classic lines from Cool Hand Luke, and after taking a look at all them pictures of the Triumph anything so innocent and built like that just gotta be named Lucille!!!

In case anyone was wondering what muriatic acid is, it is another name for hydrochloric acid.
