Andreas, The steel horn support rod that attaches to the black iron base by a set screw - that rod passes through a large oblong hole in the bottom of the horn, the rod's top point then sits into a brass cup mounted on the inside of the top part of the horn by two tiny rivits. I cleaned and lightly greased the brass cup so the rod pivots very smoothly. So I am not sure what you mean by re-drilling the horn's hole, which as I stated is actually oblong or oval shaped? The top of the rod has a rather sharp point to it, and maybe it just needs to be buffed to a much duller point where it sits into the small brass cup? I still think the stylus, or sapphire needle (?) is just plain worn out. We all know these AP open works machines are very tricky to play. But it played perfectly until recently, although a picky little machine if it is not dead level.

OK, sorry, then it is different. In my Puck the horn mount rod is attached to the horn and has to turn freely in the shaft on the base. I re-drilled the hole in the cast iron base were the rod sit in. So it seems that this is different. Never mind.

But thanks for trying to help me out Andreas. Picky machine and very primative looking this darn Columbia AP.
