I gave my daughter a VV-280 for Christmas a couple of years ago. She is now divorced and her ex-husband took the machine :(

Great to hear so many good phonograph gift stories! Like any gift, you never know how it will be appreciated, if it will be used or where it will end up. I'm looking forward to giving mine and hope it spreads the phono bug or at least becomes a treasured possession.

Twice I have given a dear friend, not an enthusiast as such but who did appreciate them, a gramophone - pleased to say that both are still treasured possessions and whist they have not become collectors, the machines are used and enjoyed and from time to time I hear about that. Really nice.

By the way, the poll won't work for me! For whatever reasons, no poll on here has yet...)

Seems the poll doesn't work for me, either.....

But no, I've never given a phonograph as a gift..... though I have three that I've received as gifts....

My one phono gift was just last Christmas. I mailed a Califone (read Schoolhouse :)) to an old girlfriend
who was always playing her Andrews Sisters and Mills Bros. records on her Granpa's Sonora

Yes! On her 75th birthday, I gave my aunt a simple little VV-IV with a collection of big band music from her dancing days. She loved it & still proudly displays it in her home. Her father worked for the RCA company in Camden.
