That Pathé Jour Et Nuit machine is often seen on French Ebay as well. However PLEASE BE AWARE, 99% of them are FAKES! This design is one of the easiest to replicate with 'spare' horns (a common sighting in France for some bizarre reason unique to this country) and REPRODUCTION back-brackets.

Many otherwise boring table top cabinets are 'converted' into desirable horn machines!

I also had an example of one of these and to be honest the difference in volume of sound between the tiny internal horn and external horn is quite marginal to say the least!

I've never experienced one of these, but always thought that must be the case! If anything, easier with the 'Jour' external horn to "put a sock in it", as the old saying goes, to make it quieter...

That is a machine called Pathé Jour et Nuit (Day and Night). By switching the arm support, the sound can be routed to the external horn (louder) or to the internal one(softer). A nice concept - this machine must have been very popular at the time, as there are many around today.

A good example of how some European sellers try to pawn off a repro for an original.....
