Your phonograph is a Symphonion, made in Leipzig, Germany!

Mine is very different in that the "brake" is a metal bracket that moves close to the governor flange and engages a small pin protruding from the periphery of the flange. In other words, it stops instantly, with a bang. Probably very hard on the governor gear!

If you look very closely in my motor photo, you can see the pin engaged with the stop lever bracket.
:o Looks brutal: couldn't they have just had a felt pad to contact the flange?

I'm new to the hobby, but I'm fairly certain it's not a Victor.

Jerry, found some information for you! This is from a 1911 Symphonion Catalog. Your motor looks identical to the ”Beta”-motor. Cannot find the same machine model from the catalog though. Here is also a picture of a 1911 Symphonion with the same motor. Your model is most likely a few years older model and may have had an earlier straight funnel type horn.

Both, your Symphonion and my Reklamophon Mozart 1906, use the same reproducer mounting parts. Here is a picture of my Reklamophon mounting. As the distance between Leipzig and Dresden is only 62 miles, it is very likely that some of their parts came from the same suppliers.

Wow! This is great information. That's most likely what my horn should look like. Thanks!!!
