I very seriously considered the Expert Minor for myself, but ultimately decided that the £2,000 opening price was more than I wanted to pay. Somewhere between that and the earlier starting price of £1,500 would have interested me. It does look very good in the auction pictures.

I'd like to express my thanks to Sterling for coming to the forum and explaining the cancellation of the original listing. Hope the sale goes smoothly.

It sold for £2000 with just the one bid.

It sure looked nice to me. I was encouraging a fellow over here to try to snag it, but I don't think it was him who won the machine....

So that would be £1750 if we equally split the difference. I can't imagine NOT buying something as unique and rare as this machine was (especially in that condition) for the sake of an additional £250! Maybe that's what determines what a "Super Collector" is?

No, as I already own "the best Expert machine in the world" (quote from Francis James) - a pedestal 'Special Model' Expert Senior. And I'm not really into the Big Daddy / Little Baby idea where you have the smallest and biggest models of any type. Putting a Minor next to the Senior is like putting an HMV 157 next to the 202. Would you ever bother to play the little machine?

Maybe the 'high bidder' was nothing more than a schill bid AND contrary to what some say / believe, an awful lot of people DO actually read internet fora about this hobby, including those who are rightfully offended by the rubbish on the UK forum (not THIS forum's UK forum - you understand?) or people simply unloading items they do not want and who have no interest in this whatsoever.

It could be therefore that the seller found and read this thread and relisted it in the belief it is worth much more than he got for it (or didn't as the case may be). A chancer? Maybe he/she will magically appear as a new member any moment and tell us the true story? That's now happened at least three times to my mind.
