I'm curious about the price estimates above though... would you really value a VI at 150 to 200 while valuing basic floor models like X's and XI's in about the same range, as I've read in other threads over the past several weeks?
Funny, I was thinking the same thing. I can't see anyone on the West Coast (or even the forum members I can think of) paying that. In fact you would be hard pressed to get half that for a machine like this. Even less if a dealer was to buy it. Now, that said.....what would the "dealers" on this forum pay for this or would you even buy it??.
Asking opinions about "price" on this forum will only muddy the water on a machine you may want to own. Worth is only what you and the seller are happy with. In Germany the machine might be worth $500 (just joking) but, I think you get the point.
Ebay, auctions,etc.... are the only "real" way to see what machine's "sell" for. However, even that does not take into account how bad you want a certain machine and therefore will pay more.
Understood. What the market will bear...

... with a rebuilt motor and reproducer and a nice original finish, at $175, would in turn result in a value for the craigslist machine posted above at much closer to 100 (unless you want, and thus value, the refinishing... a lengthy subject of debate in itself).

Thanks, I'll certainly see what I can talk this one down to.

All 3 (VI, X, and XI) were produced in huge numbers--all over half million and the XI over 850,000, so they are all in good supply. And table models have some advantages for many people in terms of the space they take up. So it does not surprise me at all that those prices may be similar.

So it definitely is NOT refinished, all original, except the reproducer has been rebuilt at some point, the white rubber gaskets are still completely pliable. Needs a rubber backing mount, but that's it. Not as nice as estott's for sure, I paid $160 for it. Here are some pics after I got it home:

Thanks for showing me the picture of yours, now I know what I should be looking to find. I think that I may start getting a bit more serious about collecting...I don't travel well, but I plan on getting out and searching the yard sales locally this year. As far as auctions and such, any pointers?
