The quality of the cabinetry outstanding but I'd pass on it. Anything that big has got to be Orthophonic. Even then it's too big for my taste but I'm not a fan of consoles. But don't let me dampen your enthusiasm. It's simple... if you like it to keep, buy it. If you're buying to flip, it's a big heavy console and has marginal appeal to collectors. Jerry

I feel the love for these: this is the machine I would have bought in 1924 and then cursed the Victor Company when the Orthophonic machines came out about a year later. :D I still think they're the handsomest acoustic console that Victor made and one of the nicest consoles of any manufacturer.

They are very well made, but I much prefer either the VV-400 or the VV-410, both of which work splendidly in rooms of real period furniture.

I've got a VV-405S with a Freed-Eiseman radio installed under the left lid..a lovely piece of technology , all dials and silver tubes visible from the top...The serial and model no. is on a plain tag under the turn table , not the typical Victor tag found everywhere else...I've never fired up the radio

oooo... do you have more pics? That is an awesome radio combo, and I bet more easily restorable than you think, once the power supply is figured out.

Thanks Jerry, that's what I was wondering. I would like to have it, but moving it around and then the day when it would have to go...well I don't want to have something I can't maybe trade up for something better. We can't rescue ALL the strays!

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about! I have a soft spot for radios from the 20's! That is a thing of beauty! Please post more pictures, if possible!
