I nifty machine. If it were nearby I would be tempted, but at say $400 instead of $800. Although heaven only knows where I would put it in my already overcrowded place. :?

I have always thought there was something awry concerning this model. They show up for sale frequently and the original asking price seems outlandish. It makes me think Edison over-ordered on this cabinet and the Company and dealers must have let them go "for cheap" in the end.

True. They didn't sell very well at the original price, so in 1922 they discounted them to $375 (where they remained until being discontinued in 1927)…


I can see why they had to: those thin legs, the inconvenient single lid, and the uninspired, boxy cabinet. The painted decoration was about the only thing that made them more interesting…
