Hi I would like to start that your horn looks great.

Does anyone know if this is how the red fireside horn originally looked?
I have two with original paint, one is less translucent and the other with stronger colour has lost most of its paint and might make a nice project in the future.

Thanks

Bruce

I think it's really close to most maroon Gem horns. I do have a machine and horn that were factory painted black and then painted maroon. I'd love to know the history but don't. The red on the machine and horn is not translucent. Jerry

Jerry,
Can you post pictures on the Gem and Horn that is not translusent? I remember reading in George Frow's book that some red horns were translucent and others were opaque. Thanks,
Harvey Kravitz

I'd be happy to post photos of the black to red Gem but it will have to wait until after Union. Jerry
