It is LOUD on the Vic III. The only problem is that most of my good Pathé discs are in Europe.
The best Pathés are European. I can only imagine how my beloved M. Berard De L'Eldorado would sound on this. Thanks for the "horn porn". :D

I'm packing to leave for the Union show tomorrow otherwise I'd definitely do the video. So many phono projects, so little time... :monkey:

This may be a silly question- What is the horn made of? Is it some type of reinforced plastic?

Not a dumb question at all. It's a sort of paper, cardboard compound, very light, very fragile but somehow survived very well.

I was to understand that Linenoid horns were made from linen, no?

HMV you may very well be right. I assumed it was a paper compound as used to make the Vic 6 horn and others because it looks the same and has similar properties. Maybe someone else can confirm?

Fabrizio and Paul's Antique Phonograph Gadgets, Gizmos & Gimmicks lists the "Linenoid" horns as being part of a group of compressed paper or "fibre" horns. See the last paragraph on page 13. However, a note with an illustration of one (I-29, page 20) suggests that the manufacturer claimed they were made of "pure linen." So I guess the "fibre" used might have been linen.
