What impression did some of you have regarding attendance at this year's show compared to previous years? I haven't attended in about 12 years, so I have no idea of how things are going these days.

It was a good show but there were fewer dealers and overall attendance seemed to be down from last year. Everybody I talked to was looking forward to next year and the show dates are June 13,14,and 15th 2014.

I had fun at the show, I had a chance to study a variety of brown wax cylinders. It seems that Columbia Grand records have double start spirals, while the Columbia regular size cylinders, have single start spiral, It is interesting the Union Artistique cylinders were dipped like candles and had layers, very interesting. I really liked the Multiphone.

Where are all the punters? The place looks empty! Or are they all in the car-park buying the REAL stuff? ;)

On the positive side, I note two or three younger buyers, that is, below 50. :D

Question about a phonograph (in the photo with the giant American flag in the background): is the cabinet machine in the foreground (with the ornate round grill) a Pathé?

No, that is a Herzog after market cabinet. They were made for both cylinder & disc machine's and in oak & mahogany.

conjecture - Some folks may have found the exposed mechanical elements dated and wanted to make a more fashionable Victrola out of what they had.

Here is another style of this type of cabinet...
