Well Jim, I was very nice and cordial and
polite in my email back to this seller.
I thanked him for allowing me to see and
hear his nice, solid-as-a-rock machine and told him again how much I like it, and how
perfectly it plays.

I also told him that some further research
has turned up the fact that it's only really
worth $200 to $250 tops.

He was very nice and came right back with a
reply saying that I am probably right, but that he got the machine in trade for some
time he put in doing some work.

He then said he probably cannot let it go
for less than $350.

So, here's what has happened so far since he
had it listed on CL last winter:
Asking $500.

Then when I was there the other day he said
he'd take $400. Now, since I have explained
things to him a little more clearly, he
is down to $350.

The gap is slowly closing. Him and I are only
looking at a gap now of about $100 between
my "top" and his "bottom" amount.

But, he did tell me that he has been offered
$300 several times by many people, and he
will not go that low...

But, also, a couple of days ago he said he
would not take less than $400...

So, I am thinking, let's just wait and see
what happens.

He did tell me that obviously if it gets sold
to me, it is going to a good home.

by further research, are you referring to the opinions of just a couple of posters on this thread? because what you're telling him really isn't true.

Fair enough, Brian. In your opinion then
it is not true.

Then, could you be so informative as to
specify what (in your opinion) the truth
of this matter actually is?

Hey, I did further research. I asked around
and got the general consensus. Coming along
and saying it isn't true doesn't help much.

Saying that something is not true is fine, but
then it's helpful to say what the truth may
be. However, in the end, this is all very
subjective, wouldn't you agree?

What is worth $200 to $250 to one person
may well be worth $500 to someone else.

What something is "worth" really just means
what someone is willing to pay.

$500 seemed way high to me for this C-19 machine. $400 still seemed high, so I asked
about it, and found out that indeed $400
IS HIGH.

$200 to $250 is more like it. Plain and simple. What is it that you find untrue
about that?
