Excellent. Thank you very much! I must admit, I have heard of that group but only in the "long form" of their title and not as CLPGS. I failed to make the connection.

Copyright in all articles remains the property of the authors.
I don't think anyone here or elsewhere would dispute this BUT in essence Starkton was simply asking for information, not a scan of the article necessarily, as he presumably was unaware of its existence prior to your response. Is it not possible for anyone who has read an article to reply in their own words with the key information for interested parties? Is this really asking too much? I don't believe it is. ;)

You can then add what your source of information was at the end and presumably anyone interested enough in the bare bones might then investigate the original in-depth article you cite.

That's what I've been doing for years! :)

"Collecting Phonographs & Gramophones" by Christopher Proudfoot was a great resource on popular makers of machines for many years. However the original plates were lost or destroyed by fire and the book could not be reprinted even though the demand was quite high for it. Until eBay, copies of the book on the second-hand market were very expensive. In the early days of Phonograph related fora, not everyone owned or had access to a copy. I was able to answer many questions asked by newbies as a result of owning a copy of that book. I did not scan it or copy the text in my replies but I was able to provide the information freely to others by virtue of the fact that I had read it several times and it was all stuck in my head. I did not simply make my responses as references to page numbers of a book they'd probably never find.
