If Google currency conversion to Pounds Sterling is correct, those look rather expensive!

Interesting that Hire Purchase at exorbitant interest rates seems to be a very common way of buying things over there. ('Twas discussed on Radio 4 this morning).

If those were my local prices, I'd certainly import. Maybe not a $15 portable though. Light-but-valuable machines would seem to be the best bet.

Sadly many sellers are reluctant to shop internationally, especially private ones who sometimes have some bargains. It's not hard to understand why, given the zeal which eBay reportedly shows when refunding dodgy buyers.

Cheers,
David.

Very true.

Much as I sympathise with collectors in countries where items are hard to find, I will not post overseas because of eBay's tendency to side with the buyer right or wrong. Perhaps eBay needs to be reminded that it is the SELLERS who pay their fees :!: .

Having said that, large numbers of machines were exported to South America from the USA, and there must be more than a few survivors. If there are local auctions, second hand shops, flea markets or antiques fairs in Brazil, these are the avenues which I would be exploring.

Brazil is full of Crapophones! I fully empathise with his dilemma.

I tried craigslist in Brazil and nothing came up, so I thought I'd need to change the terms to Portuguese... I put that back through google and found one site at least...

At a first glace to the idea, it appears that there is a market for gramophones, ( sold in Brazilian Reals )...

I believe the OP is familiar with that site; if I remember correctly, he linked it in one of his first posts.

I'm sure he appreciates the effort you went through to search in Portuguese for him, however. :rose:
I really appreciate it very much! But you should know that in Brazil, the prices are quite expressive, bought my hmv for about $ 500. Hugs!

Hello, my ebay in Brazil is mercado libre  And as the prices are quite high, now prefer to buy at ebay, but my hmv 102 bought in Brazil. I consult you before a new purchase. Hugs! :)

Really, when I try and warn sellers about the originality of the product they treat me super bad! So I created this blog to alert buyers beginners:

About the transaction of "Birch" Gramophone.

As I am not a dishonest buyer, I put the question and now I must explain, not just getting the piece not find the right price and freight high, since the dollar is high. I prefer now to ask you before making a new purchase. The seller said: Dear dilhermandoalves,

Thanks for letting me know. It's no problem, we will just cancel the transaction--no harm done. Just cancel the transaction and say we decided not to go along with the sale. I think Ebay calls it a case (sounds serious, but it's simple).
Thanks,
Chris

Hugs for all! :)

That made perfect sense to me and I don't have many words of Spanish (a few more of French). It proves the old adage "A picture's worth a thousand words" Well done indeed.
