I wonder how a standard "Standard" phonograph could drive that huge horn.
I'm sure it wasn't directly connected to the neck of a normal reproducer.

Not likely a fake. They couldn't get away with it, as hundreds of people would have seen it (or not seen it) at the fair.

Browsing through and spotted this picture. Yes, I agree, WOW it's a great picture post card. However I have played around with photographic software such as Photoshop and I have to agree with Whoopinola -

Somehow this doesn't look quite right...it's got the feel of those "the fish are biting here" post cards where the just snagged trout is the size of the boat...an advertising gimic?

I think also it's not quite right. I could re-create this image easily with the above software mentioned. If I'm wrong than if as Phototone mentioned that it is "early retouching to bring out the early printing process that could not reproduce this" then the guy should have been shot for doing such poor work back then. I think it is very poor quality. I would go with my gut instinct and think that it was fake.

I know that there are some big horns out there and still looking to see who has the biggest.

I'm sure there are bigger but I let a 7 + ft brass horn get away a couple years ago. It was in an Salem, MA, antique store and would have made an interesting discussion with the boarder guards as I brought it back to Canada.

Unfortunately, it's just the ad and no more details. I was just surprised the guy is using a Standard Phonograph.
I'm going to have to try my 6 foot Wilson horn on a phonograph.

If this was an advertisement , then Edison would have printed it no matter how accurate the photo was , as long as it generated more sales...there may have been a 20ft horn but I doubt if this is a picture of it
