Before replacing your turntable felt, I'd encourage you to try cleaning it first. There are threads here on cleaning turntable felt. Here's one for you:

In any event, please try to save that felt.
Good luck!

Thanks for the thread George. Not sure why I didn't think to try to clean it in the first place. I think I just keep expecting the project to be bigger than me but it has been coming along so well.

It's easy to become overwhelmed, but by tackling the problems one at a time - like you've been doing - you'll do fine. It's a great feeling when you finish up one of those little projects and suddenly realize that there's nothing more to do on that machine! Keep up the good work...

Replacing that crank can be expensive. Until you find a suitable replacement, or can get yours re plated, you might try some spray paint. Jerry B recommended this to me for the crank on mine, and it looks surprisingly good. One day I will find a suitable replacement, but since mine looks as good as it does, the urgency is not there.
I have also recently toyed with the idea of "brush plating" the arm of my crank:

A forum member recommended this solution to me earlier this year, I just have not taken the time to explore that option.
GOOD LUCK!!! Your cleaned gold plated parts look beautiful.

Before you replace that felt, try some Woolite and tepid water in the sink. I've done this with many dirty original felts and I've found it works really nicely 99% of the time and I'd bet it will work on yours. What I do is put a cap full of Woolite in the kitchen sink and enough tepid water (room temperature, not really warm or cold) to immerse the whole turntable felt down into. Let it sit for 15 minutes or so then dunk it up and down a few times and check. The water will get very filthy. If the stain looks like it's starting to vanish, you can use a soft brush and help it along. Once you've got it as clean as you think it can be, rinse under cool water until all the detergent is gone from the felt and let it dry in the sun. This won't hurt the nickel plating one bit and as I said, this has revived many an old felt for me, many that I'd thought were beyond filthy hope! Only once did this not work for me on a Victor I, the felt had some thin moth-eaten spots and it ended up coming out very splotchy in places. I still left the felt on as it's original, but the process didn't really help, unfortunately.
I hope this helps!

The crank will be hard as it is slightly shorter than the XVI crank.

I did try to clean my felt with woolite. It did help lessen the stain but must have reacted with something on the turntable because spots now seen to be bleached. I will probably replace the felt and just keep the old felt with the machine.
Thanks for the info on the crank. Once it is together I will see how much the missing gold bothers me. I may paint it or leave it go as it is just par gor the course on an old mechanical part. More pics soon.
