According to LFTD, Victor began experimenting with electrical recording in January 1925 and one of these test records, made on February 26th, was so good that they decided to release it. Victor Black Seal No. 35753. It was released in June.

Victor Day, when Orthophonic machines were formally introduced with great fanfare, was November 2, 1925.

Both Victor and Columbia were very cagey about electrical recording from what I've seen. Victor introduced their new Orthophonic Victrola but they didn't officially introduce Orthophonic Recording until 1926. Officially, that is to say. The dealers were told of course to use the new recordings when they demonstrated the machines but in the States the official policy was to keep mum. I'm sure by early '26 it was a major non- secret. As I've said it was all rather silly since anybody near the border that picked up a Canadian newspaper ( or looked at a Canadian record label) could see the Montreal Victor ads touting the " New V.E. Process" from July of '25. Of course it wasn't called Orthophonic up here until November 1926 after the announcement in the States.
