am I wrong in thinking that only the scroll work was a decal and the rest is free hand pin striping? the gold isn't the same hue between the scroll work and the striping on my Vic. IV and the striping is not perfectly symmetrical (I would expect a decal to be perfectly straight).
for a better match of the original I would get the decal for the scroll and have the striping done by a pro. it might be costly though...

I think they were all painted on. They used a template, and the workers just filled in the cut outs. I wish someone would make a cut out of the decals, then we could paint the colors on? Water slides are so easy to tear, I hate them. The small Edison's and such are easy, but I know I will tear one of these for a back bracket.

I can do a computer drawing and get it laser cut in some kind of plastic adhesive. all that would be needed is to peel the back, stick on the back bracket and spray.

I would have to produce many sets to make it viable though.
