Well . . . depends upon the application. Tite Bond is not reversible nor does it ever completely harden, so it is a poor choice for luthiers. The only glues that set up hard are cyanoacrylates, some epoxies, and hide glue (which is reversible). It is difficult to repair an instrument that cannot be taken apart! This is pretty much what I told Bill when he threatened to knock me flat.

TiteBond Hide glue is the same glue I use on my phonographs when appropriate. It's not good for real luthier work (another hobby of mine) but it is suitable for furniture application such as a phonograph cabinet.

Being an organic based glue it only stores for a year or two, so buy it when needed and use it quick.

Hide glue is made from animal hides and other cartilage. Correct spelling is 'hide', not "hyde". Another great advantage of hide glues is that they readily absorb stain, something other glues cannot do. I use a thin cut of hide glue as a sanding sealer/filler. When I had my sign business, I would use a heavy cut of rabbit hide glue to ice chip glass. The jute horns in Amberola I-A/B Phonographs were stiffened to shape with rabbit hide glue, then gessoed and grain painted. I use Tite Bond for furniture joints.

and Liquid Hide Glue means hide glue with stuff added to it - it's decent glue, but if you can work with real hide glue and a gluepot it's better.
