So you're the one who bought it  I was just about to hit the button, when it was gone.

I had the same problem with the 19 tooth pinion gear. Cracked and split.
I bought a new gear from APSCO. It didn't fit. Tried freezing the shaft with cooling spray and heating the gear with a lighter flame. No luck, so I gave it a tiny punishment with 0000 steel wool. The shaft was in fact not perfectly round, so I gave that a small steel wool treatment too.

Found out that the hole in the windup crank fits exactly as a device to pressfit the gear onto the shaft. The depth of the hole in the crank almost matches the final position of the gear on the shaft. I then precisely hammered the gear down onto the shaft and it was a success.

Now, my initial thought of buying that exact gear cluster set you bought, was to take the two sideplates and drill new and larger holes where the shaft bearings are. All in order to install new mini roll bearings :o and see if that would be of any improvement. So if you're interested and could be talked into a trade, I would very much like to buy those two sideplates from you.
My ebay accountname is DK6400Brian and I can pay through paypal.

Cheers :coffee:
