Re: Reproducing the fretwork at the top of a Victor VTLA

I have been experimenting and have found that I can use very thin paper backed veneer and an exacto knife to cut out pieces of the fretwork that I need to replace. Then, I glue two pieces of the veneer together to get the thickness I need which matches exactly.
I think that is a lot more trouble than making a mold; but, then I have the wood veneer matching exactly.
I have the used the mold technique for repairs on other less visible repairs and been very pleased with that as well.
Hope this helps someone.
